If you’re a man of a certain age, you may look around one day to find yourself among men of a different, younger age. Maybe you don’t play basketball with the guys anymore, or maybe you just notice a more tired-looking face when you look in the mirror. You don’t want to look tired. You don’t want to look older. You want to have something done, but you don’t know what to do. Fortunately, as an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon with many male patients, I can help guide you through the process of recapturing your younger look.
Increasingly, men are turning to cosmetic procedures to help them deal with the effects of aging. As I explain in this interview I did for The Plastic Surgery Channel, men have several options, both surgical and nonsurgical, for addressing some of the less desirable trappings of aging:
What types of procedures do men want? One common issue that often accompanies aging is the accumulation of fat in places like the hips, love handles, and/or abdomen, in which case liposuction or CoolSculpting® may be appropriate. For a man who has collected excess fat underneath his chin (another common side-effect of getter older), a nonsurgical injectable like KYBELLA® may be the solution. Gynecomastia, a condition in which a man accumulates excess fat in his chest, often affects men over 50. No man likes to have boobs, but fortunately, we have developed effective treatments for this condition. These treatments can be tailored to a man’s individual degree of fat and extra skin, yielding excellent aesthetic results and a potentially significant boost in confidence.
And finally: the aging face and hair loss among men. The face is usually where one’s age is most prominently displayed, so a more youthful face can help you radiate energy and poise. There are many potential treatments for signs of facial aging in men, and you may be gratified to learn that most of the appropriate facial solutions for men are nonsurgical: BOTOX®, fillers, skincare, etc. When it comes to hair loss, a very common issue among aging men, nonsurgical platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is one of the most effective and popular methods. These nonsurgical cosmetic procedures can make an enormous difference, and there are many effective surgical solutions as well.
Taking steps to make yourself look younger can do wonders for your confidence, enhance your love life, and make you more competitive in the workplace. For men and women alike, cosmetic procedures that recapture youth can improve life in many ways.
