One thing about facial rejuvenation procedures that many people forget is that they can provide just as much benefit for men as they do for women. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), men usually account for just over ten percent of all cosmetic plastic surgery procedures, even though the number of men undergoing cosmetic procedures has steadily increased over the years. Perhaps this low representation is due to a common misconception that men don’t need cosmetic surgery because society tends to be more tolerant of men who show signs of aging. However, while this is certainly true to some extent, more and more men are finding that today’s corporate environments place a greater priority on youth and vitality and that they need to look their best just to stay competitive. In my practice, I have had the opportunity to help many men who are interested in looking younger, as I explain in this interview I had with the Plastic Surgery Channel.
Every face is unique, so different cosmetic plastic surgery procedures can benefit different individuals depending on their specific areas of concern. However, as I explain in the video, there are three non-surgical facial rejuvenation techniques that I believe can be particularly effective:
- Botox Injections: Specifically designed to deal with wrinkles around the eyes and furrows in the brow region, a problem very common among older men.
- Laser Skin Resurfacing: Creates a smoother and more even skin tone, correcting damage caused by a lifetime of sun exposure and environmental damage.
- Facial Fillers: Alleviate the loss of facial volume that can make the eyes appear hollow and the cheeks look sunken, another common symptom of aging in men.
One of the reasons why these particular techniques are so useful when dealing with facial aging in men is because they achieve impressive but subtle results. They all make the male face look younger without drastically affecting the features. In other words, you still look like you, only better, and most people won’t even be able to tell that you have had any work done at all. Many of my male patients fear that male cosmetic plastic surgery procedures (like facelifts or eyelid surgery) might give them a somewhat feminine appearance, even though this is not generally a problem with a skilled and experienced plastic surgeon. However, the non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures that I have outlined here avoid that problem entirely.
