Fat Injections Procedure
Fat injections are done on an outpatient basis in our fully accredited state-of-the-art surgery center. For facial procedures, fat grafting cosmetic surgery will begin with an injection of local anesthesia into the donor site followed by an injection of intravenous fluids to make the fat extraction easier. Fat cells are then harvested via syringe and prepared for reinjection. Once ready, the fat is injected into the treatment area and overfilled by approximately 30% to account for fat absorption. For body contouring procedures, the patient is placed under general anesthesia and the fatty tissue is harvested via liposuction before being redistributed into the treatment area and meticulously sculpted by Dr. Namnoum. Like facial fat transfer procedures, body sculpting with fat grafting also requires the overfilling technique to account for fat absorption.

Fat Injections Recovery
Following a fat injection treatment in the face, patients can expect little to downtime but some bruising and swelling is normal and will subside gradually in approximately 48 hours. Recovery after fat transfer procedures on the body depend on the amount of fat harvested and the number of areas where liposuction was performed. Patients can generally expect bruising and swelling for 1-3 weeks and should avoid strenuous activity during this time. Most patients feel comfortable returning to work after one week.
Fat Injections Results
The results of fat transfer procedures are visible immediately, however, it’s important to remember that the final results will take time to fully develop.2 The injected fat will settle and anywhere from 20% to 50% may be absorbed by the body. Final results of fat injections are long-lasting, but are subject to changes due to gravity, aging and weight gain or weight loss. Results are retained longest by those who maintain their weight and have a healthy lifestyle.

Can I combine fat transfer with other procedures?
Yes. Many patients choose to optimize their results with other surgical procedures such as a facelift or breast lift.
Are fat injections permanent?
Because it is expected that a certain amount of the fat graft will be absorbed by the body, the initial results are not permanent. However, any fat cells remaining after roughly six months should be long-lasting.
Are fat injections safe?
