Breast Augmentation with Mastopexy

Breast augmentation is often combined with mastopexy (breast lift) in women who have significant sagging of the breasts as a result of genetics, aging, pregnancy or weight loss. In these instances the nipple position is lower than ideal on the breast mound and the entire breast may appear low on the chest. The breasts usually appear ‘deflated’ with an empty upper portion and little cleavage. While the solutions are nuanced, augmentation alone is not likely to create the desired improvement in aesthetics.

A breast lift performed in conjunction with an augmentation tailors the excess skin and lifts the nipple upward on the breast mound. Although this procedure results in extra scars when compared with augmentation alone, the overall effect is visually stunning and the scars fade with time. Liposuction and fat transfer to the breasts can be utilized for further refine the effect by filling the cleavage and upper chest. Breast augmentation and mastopexy procedures are technically challenging and are best performed by experienced surgeons for ideal results.
